Essential fatty acids, including omega-6 (n-6) and omega-3 (n-3) fatty acids, are critical components of our diet. Docosahexanoic acid (DHA) is an n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) found especially in marine fish and algae. DHA is essential for brain development, brain function and vision. Deficiencies in the level of DHA have been linked to cognitive impairment and Alzheimer's disease (AD).
