Taking The Soft Option

If you're counting calories or attempting to go "low carb" (not that we'd recommend it), prepare yourself for a shock where soft drinks are concerned.

In the USA in 2000, added sweeteners such as table sugar and honey accounted for 16 per cent, or one sixth, of total daily calories consumed, according to the Journal of the American Dietetic Association. (That's in addition to the stuff already found in the food we eat.)
